Rachelle Anne Wright
Your Fiction Editor from Australia
Hi! I'm Rachelle—alpha reader, beta reader, ARC reviewer, book lover, editor, proofreader, and formatter. I live in Queensland, Australia, with my husband, two young (and slightly crazy) kids, and a grumpy old cat named Mr Smoosh. Fiction is my life, so when I’m not working, I’m always reading! I can’t remember a time when I didn’t read. When I was young, I even wanted to be a librarian. The library was my escape—my safe place—and still is my happy place today. Fortunately, my children have also inherited my love of books, which fills me with joy. My husband? I am still working on him!
Over the years, I have studied various subjects and tried my hand at multiple jobs. I always knew I wanted to help people, which is what drew me to social services. Eventually, when I was contemplating a career change over coffee with girlfriends, my friend asked me, “if you could do anything, what would it be?” When I said I’d be a fiction editor, she asked, “what’s stopping you from doing it?” That planted the seed that led to further study and grew into the business I have today. She knows who she is, and I’m forever grateful to her for changing my life. So here I am, finally doing what I want to do and loving every second of it!
But how did I get from a non-fiction background in psychology to fiction? I love shows like Vikings, True Blood, and Peaky Blinders, as well as books in many genres - young adult/new adult, thriller, horror, paranormal/fantasy, and yes, romance! I also love books that are quirky, like Douglas Adams’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, or the ‘Quirky Classics’—Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and Android Karenina. I am a confessed book geek and proud of it. I can devour a book a day, no problem! Want to know what I’m reading? Check out R. A. Wright Editing on Facebook!
So, other than books and tv shows, what else am I into? I am hopelessly addicted to coffee and carbs. You’ll frequently find me at my local café, where the staff even know the kids’ daycare days. I prefer winter to summer and would rather be fantasizing about cabins with log-filled fireplaces than a day at the beach. And if I could holiday anyway in the world, it would either be hardcore partying in New Orleans and enjoying the history and vibe of the place, or sitting outside a quirky little café in Paris, eating a croissant and looking out at the Eiffel Tower. I have many wild and wonderful dreams, and one day I hope to turn those dreams into reality.
So, that’s me! If you think you’d like me in your corner, please message me. I look forward to hearing from you!
